Getting to the meeting room

The way to the meeting room will be signposted, but it isn't straightforward, so I add a short description of the way anyway: After entering the building, go up the main staircase as high as it is possible (up to the second floor according to Czech nomenclature, which counts the ground floor as floor #0). Turn right there, and at the edge of the corridor, turn right again. At the end of the corridor you'll find another staircase: take it and go one floor up. You'll end at a door - open it, turn right, and the next door is to the meeting room (called 'Vez', which means 'tower' in Czech).

An alternative is to take a lift. For going by lift, turn left at the ground floor, the lift will be on your right hand side after a few steps. Go to the third floor, turn left, and go along the whole third floor (you will turn left twice) until it is possible (you'll pass through one door in the meantime). In the end of the corridor, you'll be facing the door to the lecture room.

From the airport

Possibility 1: take bus 100, go to its end stop (Zlicin), change to underground line B (yellow), go to the Karlovo namesti stop, take the front exit, and change to tram #6, 18 or 24 (southward direction, that is, direction to 'Sporilov', 'Vozovna Pankrac', or 'Kubanske namesti', respectively - it's three stops from there.

Possibility 2: take bus 119, go to its end stop (Dejvicka), change to underground line A (green), go to the 'Staromestska' stop, and change to tram #18 (southward direction - to 'Sporilov'; 7 stops from there if I counted well). 

From the main railway station

Possibility 1: go straight through the central exit, take a short walk across a park, across the main road, and along quite short 'Jeruzalemska' street. After about 200 m you end up at the tram stop, take tram #24 going left (direction 'Kubanske namesti'; 7 stops). Possibility 2 (a bit longer alternative, but less demanding on your sense of orientation): take underground line C (red), direction 'Haje', go two stops to 'I.P.Pavlova', take trams #4, 10, 16 (downhill) for three stops, and change to trams #6, 18, 24 at the 'Moran' stop (two stops from there).

The tram stop closest to the venue is 'Albertov', it's located near 'C' on the attached map. It's closest to hotel 'U Semika'; for the other two hotels, it's better to go one stop more - all the trams #6, 18, 24 go there. All the three hotels I offered are within walking distance (up to 15 mins) from the venue.

It you take taxi from the airport, the price to your hotel shouldn't exceed 700 Czech crowns (CZK; 1 EUR ~ 26 CZK).

Attached is the map of the area near the venue (A). 'B' is the location of our social event on Monday (19,30; 'Pivovarsky dum', meaning 'Brewery House'). 'C' to 'H' are possible restaurants / pubs for lunch; 'C' is also at the crossing near the tram stops closest to the venue. 'I' to 'K' are the suggested hotels.

this is the first announcement of our next VALUE meeting in Prague, 23-25 Sep 2013. 

Due to funding constraints the number of reimbursed participants will be limited. Therefore, in a first round, only (1) all MC members and (2) the most active WG members will be invited. They will shortly receive an official e-COST invitation and will automatically be eligible for reimburement. 

To register, please accept the official e-COST invitation and send a short confirmation email to me by 2 August.

If you do not respond by then, we will cancel your invitation and invite your substitute MC member instead and other WG members we did not consider in the first round.

The meeting will take place at Faculty of Science, Charles University, Albertov 6.
